Part Two of two episodes with Will Durst and Willie Brown sitting down at Tres Agaves in San Francisco @ 130 Townsend in San Francisco with Producer Paul “The Lobster” Wells and have lunch at this Restaurant close to AT&T Park, home of the SF Giants. A freewheeling discussion was recorded as part one. After a delicious and very satisfying lunch for cast and crew, we pick up the conversation in Episode 18 on taxes and money and dive in to the political topics of the day: President Obama’s first one hundred days, The rescue of the ship captain from Somalian Pirates by Navy Seals, Newspapers and what will be the key to their survival and the importance of it to democracy. We touched on how Rush Limbaugh was proliferated through syndicated radio and what the impact of deregulation has had on radio and local communities. The newspaper talk leads to sports writers and the Giants and their pitchers, and the new show on Comcast Willie Brown will be doing with Gary Radnich for 49ers post game wrap-ups. Then we circle around to the May 19th special elections in California and Governor Arnold, Schwarzenegger, and the unpopular notion of new taxes and fees. We end up with the proposal to rename 3rd Street in San Francisco “Willie Brown Boulevard.”

On December 11th, 2008 an event was held in San Francisco that distributed food, personal items and toys to thousands of low income San Francisco families. Paul Wells, producer of the Will and Willie show was one of the volunteers at the event, organized in part by the Willie L. Brown Institute. As the election, the Holidays and the Inauguration of President Barrack Obama all rolled past into history, Will and Willie’s schedule was too packed to get together for another Podcast. A post-inaugural session will follow soon. Here’s Feed The Children’s Larry Jones on what brought his philanthropic organization to San Francisco for the “Miracle on Pier 48.”

Will Durst and Willie Brown join Producer Paul “The Lobster” Wells at Epic Roasthouse, a fine new Pat Kuleto restaurant managed by Pete Sittnick at 369 The Embarcadero on San Francisco’s scenic waterfront. This is part one of our final pre-election broadcast. We start with the Presidential race, Will and Willie’s predictions, the polls, the economy and how it has swung the race in Obama’s direction. We also give historic perspective to the current financial crisis with a look back to similar events going back before 1929 to the current changes that allowed sub-prime mortgages to be sold as “Triple A” securities and traded through banks and hedge funds. Technical difficulties prevent Episodes 13 (Ah Ha!) from being seen in the video version in it’s entirety. Segments #13 are being combined with those from the video version of #14.
